Emotional healing for chronic pain sufferer – interview transcript

This month, I had an opportunity to sit down with Dawn Cady to discuss chronic pain which is a complex health issue that affects hundreds of millions of people throughout the world.

Dawn is a professional Pain Transformation Coach, she told me that there are a lot of misunderstanding in both the general public as well as the mainstream medical community about what chronic pain is and what is the most effective ways of treating it.

Dawn further describes, all pain consists of two main components viz. the unpleasant physical sensations we experience in our body and the emotional response we have to those sensations.

Our emotional response to pain may be the most important determinant as to how long we continue to experience pain.

In addition to this when one is dealing with chronic pain there are emotions that develop as a secondary result of the pain, so these emotions are needed to be addressed in order for healing to occur. For example, if someone suffers from recurring back pain following a car accident and goes to a conventional doctor, he or she will most likely be prescribed strong painkillers.

There are some serious limitations to this approach. Firstly, painkillers only address the physical components of pain and as more and more medical research is finding; they don’t do it too well either. Secondly, painkillers may temporarily mask the symptoms of pain, however, they don’t get to the root of the underlying issues that make chronic pain an ongoing problem.

Unfortunately, many of the painkillers prescribed for chronic pain can cause more health problems for those taking them such as sedation and constipation. In certain cases, these issues may need to be balanced with the need to control severe pain. In addition, any medication used for pain is only addressing the physical component of pain and therefore it is not a complete approach to pain management.

Dawn wants to help people become more aware of their body, as she herself has been there and has spent more time, money and upsets as a patient than she care to think about. Dawn went from 13 painkillers a day to ZERO. Her coaching and training deals with the emotions Dawn offers support and guidance to people as she understands what they are experiencing. Dawn know how to deal with the psychosomatic component of pain and teaches how to listen to the body.

Dawn says “it’s time to end the suffering” and I am very confident she can show you how.

If pain is stopping you leading a normal life then she can assure you it’s not the way you are meant to live your life. So, join her coaching, she is here to HELP YOU to get out of pain!
