Tips to maintain Healthy life

Most of us think we do a reasonable job of maintaining our health with good (or at least OK) eating habits and physical activity but is that enough to be considered healthy?

If yes then sincerely answer these four simple questions to healthfulness and see how well you score.

Do you smoke?
Do you exercise 30 minutes or more, 5 times a week?
Do you eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily?
Are you able to maintain a healthy weight (a BMI of 18-25), or are you successfully losing weight to attain a healthy weight?

The good news is that these behaviors are not be foreign to you, right? Everyone knows smoking is bad for our health. If you are one of the lucky ones who never became addicted to nicotine, pat yourself on the back.

While those four habits are indisputably important for a healthy lifestyle, some may argue that more factors should be taken into consideration. What would be on your list? The most important thing to remember is that you can make a difference in your health and well-being. Take charge of your life, and be mindful of small behavior changes that can make your lifestyle a healthier one.

I came up with my own list of healthy behaviors (beyond these four basics) that contribute to wellness and satisfaction with your lifestyle.

  • Regular checkups/health screenings
  • Adequate sleep
  • Avoid excess alcohol
  • Maintain healthy weight
  • Socializing with friends and family
  • Adequate or extra daily water intake
  • Maintain healthy emotions: laugh, cry, love
  • Maintain healthy relationships/supportive network
  • Safe driving/seat belts/helmets/avoid drinking and driving

It can be challenging to implement all these changes to your life just remember it’s one step at a time and you can always reach out to a friend or family member to help keep you accountable or you can hire a coach who will help you remove any blocks that get in your way from achieving your goals.
